HELLO FIASCO
GORGEOUS GIRL
(From the album "Find The Shoreline")

In the years leading up to 2021, former members of The Mailman's Children joined forces with other Canadian artists to record 23 original songs. Although Hello Fiasco™ is principally Canadian, the band is actually considered Canadian-American or “North American” because their frontman Eric LaBossiere (born Canadian) lives in Helena, Montana (USA).

The rest of the band, including Joel Couture (bass), Joel Perreault (lead guitars/backing vocals), Ivan Burke (drums/backing vocals), and Guy Abraham (keys/Ableton/backing vocals), all live in the Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada region.

At the top of 2021, the newly formed 5-piece band surfaced as Hello Fiasco. The band’s debut album “Find The Shoreline” has earned 4,500,000 streams including 1,700,000 unique listeners on Spotify, being placed on over 12,000 Spotify playlists, and achieving several top 30s at US College radio.

The band's debut album “Find The Shoreline” was co-produced by frontman Eric LaBossiere and award-winning Canadian producer John Paul Peters (Propagandhi, Arkells, Comeback Kid, Faouzia, Royal Canoe, Cancer Bats, The Bros. Landreth and Begonia). *Peters recently won both Audio Engineering and Producer of the Year awards at the Western Canadian Music Awards. Notably, the album was mastered by American Grammy-winning engineer Randy Merrill of Sterling Sound (Imagine Dragons, Cage The Elephant, Muse, Maroon 5, Paul McCartney, Ariana Grande, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Adele and Lady Gaga).

With lyrics that are sometimes cheeky and sarcastic, the band’s songs are often meaningful and deep. Backed by the power and vulnerability of LaBossiere’s stylish voice, which is reminiscent of British Pop Rock like Bowie but also holding the American vibe of Brenden Urie (Panic! at the Disco) and Brandon Flowers (The Killers), the band’s driving rhythm section is wrapped up in a tapestry of majestic electric guitar tones, catchy piano melodies, synth landscapes and a barrage of powerful harmonies that all come together to make this North American but Canadian-heavy band a force to reckon with. They might be Pop Rock, but Hello Fiasco is definitely more than the standard fare of rock instrumentation and same old song writing we have all gotten used to.

Hello Fiasco has been compared to Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and David Bowie, though listeners have also said that HF definitely has a sound and strength of their own. This only makes sense since the band prides itself on coming from the side of Pop Rock where the quality of lyrics, music and originality all still stand for something.

HF’s first performances include a sold-out headlining show at Canada’s renowned Festival du Voyageur, as well as an opening slot for The Watchmen, I Mother Earth and Bif Naked at Winnipeg’s Burt Block Party. The band is currently in the process of scheduling its first North American tour dates for 2023 and 2024, with a few shows already scheduled for Canada.

Gorgeous Girl: Challenging Beauty Standards with a Pop Rock Anthem

In the realm of music, there are songs that transcend mere entertainment, tackling thought-provoking themes and challenging societal norms. "Gorgeous Girl," a cheeky and fun pop rock anthem by the band Hello Fiasco, delves into the advantages of beautiful people and how they can sometimes exploit those advantages at the cost of others. The song boldly confronts the rigid beauty standards imposed by society, while infusing it with a playful and energetic vibe. The band's electrifying performance and captivating lyrics make "Gorgeous Girl" an instant hit, leaving listeners enthralled from the first chord. The song delves into the complexities of beauty and its impact on individuals: "You can drop your things Anywhere you want When the phone it rings It's always you they want You can cancel a date You can always be late You can afford to be rude But I'm sure you knew" These opening verses directly address the privileges and entitlement granted to those who conform to conventional beauty standards. Hello Fiasco's bold lyrics shed light on the dichotomy between beauty and societal treatment, urging listeners to critically examine the disparities in how individuals are perceived and treated based on their physical appearance. The chorus of "Gorgeous Girl" echoes with a rebellious spirit: "You You can say what you want for free You You can walk all over my self-esteem Don't hate me for noticing The advantages of being a gorgeous girl" Through these anthemic lines, Hello Fiasco challenges the societal double standards imposed on individuals who don't fit the narrow definition of beauty. The band candidly acknowledges the privileges and advantages that come with conforming to conventional beauty norms, while encouraging listeners not to resent the acknowledgment of these disparities. As the song progresses, the band continues to dismantle beauty stereotypes: "You can expect a ride Dinner and wine You can expect a light The lady wants a cigarette tonight You can expect a chair While I'm standing there You can sport a fake laugh Guess what It looks good on you Oh no" These verses confront the expectations and preferential treatment often bestowed upon those deemed physically attractive. Hello Fiasco juxtaposes contrasting scenarios to highlight the inequities faced by individuals who fall outside society's narrow beauty ideals. "Gorgeous Girl" is not just a pop rock anthem with infectious melodies; it serves as a bold critique of beauty standards perpetuated by society. Hello Fiasco's honest and introspective lyrics encourage listeners to question and challenge the biases and stereotypes associated with physical attractiveness. By addressing these issues head-on, "Gorgeous Girl" becomes a rallying cry for inclusivity and acceptance. The song urges listeners to look beyond superficial appearances and recognize the intrinsic value and worth of individuals beyond their physical attributes. In a world that often prioritizes beauty above all else, Hello Fiasco's "Gorgeous Girl" is a reminder that true beauty encompasses resilience, individuality, and the strength to defy societal expectations.
