Against The Current return with “Dead Man Walking,” the second single from the American band's upcoming third album. Released on May 22, 2026, the song follows “Heavenly,” which arrived in March, and marks another step toward the group's next musical chapter.
The band has explained that the song focuses on the cost of survival and the feeling of no longer being the same person after returning from war. Although the world around the protagonist appears unchanged, the experience has left such a profound mark that returning to ordinary life becomes difficult. The song's central image is that of someone who survived physically but feels disconnected from the person they once were.
The track was written by Chrissy Costanza with producer Eric Ron and songwriter Renforshort. In a later interview, Costanza described the writing session as one of her favorite experiences and said that the song would be part of the band's upcoming album.
The release arrives as Against The Current celebrate their 15th anniversary. The band will also bring new music to the Till Death & Back tour, with UK and European dates scheduled for autumn 2026.
A visual for the song was released in July. The video features Chrissy Costanza pulling a coffin containing another version of herself, creating a visual interpretation of the song's themes of identity, transformation, and the relationship between the present and the person one used to be.
“Dead Man Walking” offers a darker and more reflective side of Against The Current as the band continues building toward its next album. The song is now available on major streaming platforms.
