Ed Sheeran surprised fans with his new single "Azizam", released on April 4, 2025. The track, the first single from his eighth studio album Play, blends contemporary pop with traditional Persian sounds. The title, which means "my dear" in Persian, is a tribute to his wife Cherry Seaborn and reflects the influence of Iranian-Swedish producer Ilya Salmanzadeh.

The song features traditional Iranian instruments such as the daf, santur, and ghatam, and includes backing vocals from Iranian artists like Arash and Andy. The music video, directed by Iranian-American filmmaker Saman Kesh, is set at a Persian wedding and features appearances from Googoosh, Omid Djalili, and others. The video was released on April 17, 2025, and has received a warm reception from the global Iranian community.

The track debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart, making it Sheeran's 42nd single in the British top 10. "Azizam" is available on all major streaming platforms and marks the beginning of a new phase in the artist's career, characterized by a deeper cultural and musical exploration.
